Back at the end of January of 2019, my family doctor told me my blood sugar was 10.6. It really didn't surprise me and although I was taking a drugstore full of meds, it wasn't really doing anything for me. I was overeating, (eating whatever I wanted and when I wanted) overweight (exercise was a four letter word), old (over 65 and a great excuse for sitting around) and the word DIET to me was nothing but BLAND.
The other issue was the cost of the drugs, approximately $ 300 per month. Being retired the money is a major concern. So I had to do something.
I made changes in my diet, lifestyle and medication. Consulting with my family doctor, we agreed to cut back the drugs, no more Invokana and Januvia. I monitored what I was eating and tested blood sugars 6 times a day. We met once a month and on April 30 we had the results of my latest tests.
7.8, I was down almost 3 full points. We couldn't believe it.
Okay, you are probably thinking that I am going to try to sell you something or this is just a hoax.
Wrong...I cannot guarantee that you will be as successful as I was.
There is no fad diet, just a change in what and how much.
There are no special magic drugs. There is a simple drink that seems to work (apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and club soda, twice a day.
There is no gym membership, simple workout with a pair of dumbbells and the ability to go for a walk.
The reason I am writing this blog is for memorializing what I am doing, maybe this will help other people with type 2 diabetes. It might help me to put my experience into a book and it might be fun. Hopefully people will read this and it might help them or add suggestions.
